FlexUp and Unisun Execute Co-Development Agreement for BESS Projects in Germany

Munich, Germany, November 12, 2024 – FlexUp Markets and Unisun Energy Services GmbH have entered into a co-development agreement to drive Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Germany. This strategic partnership leverages the two companies’ combined expertise to create well-developed, bankable energy storage projects.

Under the partnership, FlexUp and Unisun will jointly invest in developing BESS projects within FlexUp's in-house renewable energy storage project development pipeline, as well as third party developed projects.

FlexUp will lead the development of the BESS projects, drawing on its deep knowledge of energy storage and market access. Unisun, a global leader in the solar and storage sectors, brings its deep networks into the Chinese BESS supply chain, and its strong operations & maintenance presence in Germany and throughout Europe.

The partnership includes an explicit focus on “flexxing up” existing solar power plants, by upgrading them to co-located solar+storage projects. These projects enable shared use of scarce grid connection capacity, make efficient use of existing renewable sites, and offer continued financial value to the operators of existing solar PV plants.
